A fluid-structure interaction method with solid-rigid contact for heart valve dynamics
نویسندگان
چکیده
A computational method is proposed for problems where fluid–structure interaction is combined with solid-rigid contact. This combination is particularly important for the dynamics and impact of heart valves. The Navier–Stokes equation in an Eulerian setting is coupled to a Neo-Hookean solid model using a Lagrangian description. A fictitious domain method extended with a local mesh adaptation algorithm provides the required flexibility with respect to the motion and deformation of the valve. In addition, it ensures the solids ability of sustaining pressures present in the fluid. Making use of the fact that the fluid and solid mesh are not required to be connected conformingly, it is shown that the model can be extended with a contact algorithm without introducing meshing complications near the contact surfaces. 2006 Elsevier Inc. Presenting a Modified SPH Algorithm for Numerical Studies of Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems
A modified Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is proposed for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems especially, in cases which FSI is combined with solid-rigid contacts. In current work, the modification of the utilized SPH concerns on removing the artificial viscosities and the artificial stresses (which such terms are commonly used to eliminate the effects of tensile and numeri...

Micro Abstract We present a new and completely parallel approach for fluid-structure interaction, which includes also contact between the elastic structures. Our approach is inspired by the fictitious domain method and makes intensive use of variational transfer between the solid and the fluid and on the possibly contacting surfaces between solids. We present the discretization, the setup of th...
متن کاملA Lagrangian-Lagrangian framework for the simulation of rigid and deformable bodies in fluid
We present a Lagrangian-Lagrangian approach for the simulation of fully resolved Fluid Solid/Structure Interaction (FSI) problems. In the proposed approach, the method of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is used to simulate the fluid dynamics in a Lagrangian framework. The solid phase is a general multibody dynamics system composed of a collection of interacting rigid and deformable object...

This work is concerned with formulating and validating a Lagrangian-Lagrangian (LL) approach for the simulation of fully resolved Fluid Solid/Structure Interaction (FSI) problems. In the proposed approach, the method of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is used to simulate the fluid dynamics in a Lagrangian framework. The solid phase is a general multibody dynamics system composed of a coll...
متن کاملRepresenting fluid dynamics as a many - body dynamics problem : a vehicle fording analysis test case
In this report we present the outcome of a study that attempted to answer the following question: for complex fluid-solid interaction problems, can the fluid be represented as a large number of rigid spheres that mutually interact via contact forces? We set out to answer this question by first describing the approach used in Chrono::FSI to analyze coupled fluid-solid interaction problems. This ...
